As fall approaches and the temperatures begin to lower, there is a lot to look forward to! This could range from cooler weather, to pumpkin season, the leaves changing color, and upcoming fall holidays such as Halloween or Thanksgiving! However, one part of fall that you may not be looking forward to or expect is the rise of unwelcome visitors inside your home. One of the unwelcome visitors that you may find entering your home is the stink bug. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are known for their unpleasant odor when threatened or crushed, giving them their distinctive name. Normally up to 2 cm in length, they have long legs that extend out from their body, making them appear even larger. If you are having a hard time recognizing this insect, try and recognize its shield-like shape. They are usually brown, with lighter bands on the antennae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stink bugs produce their well-known unpleasant scent to defend against predators. This unpleasant odor can linger, so be cautious when dealing with these insects, and try not to crush them. They are actually an invasive species to America, and pose damage to many agricultural crops. However, despite their potential damage to plants, they do not have any direct threats to humans. Despite their non-existent danger, they can still be a nuisance inside your home. If you suspect an infestation, look for large groups of dead or alive stink bugs, especially in sunny areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
